When our client, a leading pharma, biotech, and consumer health global contract development and manufacturing company, asked for the impossible – we said ‘yes’. The company needed its 2023 sustainability report done in eight weeks. A project that would normally take six months, from start to publication, was shortened to just two.
Today’s reports are largely driven by competing standards and disclosure demands from ESG investors, causing reports to top more than 100 pages to meet everyone’s expectations. With a desire to see more concise and targeted sustainability reporting and never shying away from a challenge, our team developed a solution — the Smart Report.
Bringing our quarter century of sustainability reporting experience to bear, we distilled the company’s report contents down to the essential elements. For each material topic, we created brief, factual text covering key progress points, data analysis, and targets. What was previously a 10,500 word report came in at just 4,000 words.
A streamlined process was critical to success. One content meeting per subject was allowed, and we completed three report drafts in total. Throughout the project, we worked closely with our client’s reporting chief, who had full editorial control, and their head of design, who created a clear and simple PDF solution.
At the back of the report, the company included their full data-set in tabular form, with indexes for SASB and TCFD.
